Umar Ibn al- Khattab – A great Caliph the world ever seen

Umar Ibn al-Khattab was a great caliph and father in law of prophet Muhammad s a w. He is also known as Al Farooq that means a person who can identify the right and wrong. He conquered Persia. He was considered as the best sahaba ever lived. He born and brought up in mecca. His father’s name is Khattab Ibn Nufayl and mother’s name is hathama Bint Hisham belonging to the tribe Banu Makhzum.

Umar Ibn al-Khattab had a passion for peotry. He was a tall statured man. He was strong and powerful in both mind and body. He had proved to be a talented artibrator. When prophet Muhammad s a w started preaching he was filled with anger. He rushed to prophet’s home with the intension to kill him but later he converted to islam. He was strong in his decisions.

Surah Ta-Ha played the most important role in his life to convert to islam. His own sister and father converted to islam before him. On knowing this he felt much angry and beaten his sister to bleed. After influencing from the following verses of holy quran he converted to islam. The verses are ” Verily, I am Allah: there is no God but Me; so serve Me (only), and establish regular prayer for My remembrance” (Quran 20:14).

He was one of the favourite companion of prophet. He was 39 when he accepted islam and prophet. I will write more about Umar Ibn al-Khattab in my following posts. Keep on reading. May allah bless us.
